Colorado Draw Odds for Residents and Nonresidents

Colorado elk, deer and pronghorn draw odds for every hunt code, split into resident and nonresident views, from CPW's primary draw recaps for 2023 through 2026, with a next-year point-creep estimate.

Deadlines

CPW's 2026 primary draw ran Mar 1 to Apr 7, 2026 (8 p.m. Mountain). CPW has not posted the 2027 dates yet; recent years closed on the first Tuesday of April. A current qualifying license is required before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Colorado draw use preference points?

Most licenses in a hunt code go to the first-choice applicants with the most points; CPW then fills a hybrid share at random among applicants near the cut on many codes. Nonresidents are capped at a share of each code.

What does 'drawn out at' mean?

It is the lowest point level that drew the hunt on first choice in CPW's report, with the share of that level that drew.
