What to do now
- Texas, by Nov 1, 2026. Apply for spring turkey, feral hog and the guided exotic packages on the Texas Parks and Wildlife drawn hunts page. Your license customer number is your login.
- Wyoming points, by Nov 2. The preference point window (Jul 1 to Nov 2 on WGFD’s table) is the last chance to bank a point this year if you are not applying for a license.
- Wyoming nonresident elk, in January. Applications open Jan 2 and close Feb 2 on WGFD’s table. Decide your hunt area over the holidays with the Wyoming draw odds.
- Colorado and Montana, plan for spring. Neither agency has posted 2027 dates. Shortlist hunt codes now with the points tool and the Colorado and Montana odds pages.

Texas
Texas Parks and Wildlife holds drawings the business day after each deadline, which fall on the 1st and 15th of the month. The Nov 1, 2026 group is the last big one of the 2026-27 catalog. Odds by hunt area are on our Texas drawn hunts hub, and the full Texas list is on our deadlines page.
Colorado
CPW’s primary draw page shows no 2027 deadline yet. For reference only, the 2026 window ran Mar 1 to Apr 7, 2026 at 8 p.m. Mountain. Up to four hunt choices per species, one application per species.
Wyoming
WGFD’s dates and deadlines table lists open and close days without a year. Nonresident elk results post May 21 on that table; deer, antelope and resident elk results post Jun 18.
Montana
FWP’s application and drawing dates page still shows the 2026 cycle. Nonresidents applying for deer or elk permits must also submit a combination license application by the same deadline.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Colorado draw deadline for 2027?
Colorado Parks and Wildlife has not announced it yet. The 2026 primary draw ran Mar 1 to Apr 7, 2026. We will add the 2027 date once CPW posts it.
Do I need anything before I apply in Colorado?
Yes. CPW requires a qualifying license before you can apply for the big-game draws. It can go in the same cart, but it has to be added first.
When does Wyoming nonresident elk close?
WGFD’s dates table lists Jan 2 to Feb 2 for nonresident elk. Check WGFD’s page in January to confirm the year.
Which Texas drawn hunts close Nov 1, 2026?
Spring turkey, feral hog, the guided gemsbok and scimitar-horned oryx packages, refuge alligator, refuge spring turkey and several youth and e-postcard hunts, per Texas Parks and Wildlife.
