Alaska Caribou Draw Results, 2025

Every caribou drawing hunt from the 2025 ADF&G drawing: applications, permits and percent drawn, hunt by hunt. These are counts of applications, not people. Alaska has no points, so each application in a hunt has the same chance.

How to read this

  • Applications, not applicants. A hunter can send up to six applications per species and can apply for the same hunt more than once, so “1 in 100” means 1 permit per 100 applications.
  • Random lottery, no points. Each application gets a random draw number; the lowest numbers win, up to the permit count. A party application shares one number.
  • Permits may differ from advertised. ADF&G notes the permits issued can differ from the number listed in the supplement, and some hunts had fewer applications than permits.
  • Hunt numbers change. Some 2026-27 hunts are new and have no 2025 history. Check the current supplement for each number.

Nonresident rules in brief

U.S. nonresidents do not need a guide for this species; non-U.S. citizens (aliens) do. Check the hunt page for any hunt-specific rules. The results table does not split residents and nonresidents. More on the Alaska draw hub.

Frequently asked questions

What are the odds of drawing a caribou permit in Alaska?

It depends on the hunt number. In the 2025 drawing, caribou hunts ranged from under 1% to about 45% of applications drawn, per ADF&G. Look up the exact hunt in the table on this page.

Are these odds per person?

No. ADF&G reports applications. One hunter can send up to six applications per species, including more than one for the same hunt, so the number of people is lower than the number of applications.

Is there a single nonresident caribou odds number?

No. The ADF&G results table has no residency column, so there is no official statewide nonresident figure. Odds vary hunt by hunt.

Does Alaska use preference points?

No. Alaska drawing permits are a pure random lottery with no preference or bonus points, so every application in a hunt has the same chance.

When is the next Alaska draw application window?

Nov 1, 2026 at 8 a.m. to Dec 15, 2026 at 5 p.m. AKST, online only, per ADF&G.
