Next up: Texas Nov 1 categories draw about Nov 4. Claims due about Nov 14. Alaska draw applications open Nov 1, 8 a.m. AKST (close Dec 15).

The four words on results day

Drawn (successful)
You won a tag or permit. Most agencies make you pay or claim it by a deadline, or you lose it.
Unsuccessful
You did not draw. In point states this usually earns you a point for next year. Your fee rules depend on the state.
Leftover
Tags nobody drew or claimed. States sell or redraw them later. Points usually do not apply to them.
Preference / bonus points
Credit for past tries. Preference points put you in line ahead of people with fewer. Bonus points add chances in a random draw. Drawing your first choice usually resets them.

Pick your state

  • Texas: TPWD says drawings are usually held the next business day after each category deadline. For the Nov 1, 2026 categories that points to about Nov 4, with claims due about Nov 14 (10 days). Check the TPWD deadlines page for proposed drawing and acceptance dates.
  • Colorado: Results day is unknown for 2027. CPW posts results after the primary draw and charges your card on file when results post. We will not guess a date.
  • Wyoming: WGFD’s dates table lists nonresident elk results May 21 and deer, antelope and resident elk results Jun 18, with no year. Confirm the 2027 dates on WGFD.
  • Montana: FWP gives months, not days: elk and deer permits and nonresident combos mid-April; moose, sheep, goat and bison mid-May; deer and elk B licenses mid-June; antelope early August (per FWP’s 2026 dates). Exact 2027 days are unknown.
  • Alaska: ADF&G results for the Nov 1 to Dec 15, 2026 application period post in February. The exact day is unknown until ADF&G posts it.

What to do next, any state

  1. Confirm your status in your agency account.
  2. Drew? Plan it: pay or claim by the deadline, read the hunt rules, then put the season on your calendar.
  3. Missed? Bank it: check your point balance went up.
  4. Look for leftover or secondary draw tags: check the deadlines list for each state’s leftover and secondary windows.
  5. Put next year’s window on your calendar: draw deadlines.
