Hunting Gaiters

We may earn from gear links on this page. Odds never change because of it. How we earn

Compare full-height hunting gaiters with the shorter hiking version. Choose by coverage, boot fit and conditions—not just the product name.

For cold-weather elk: choose a tall gaiter that seals around your boot and calf. For dry trails and debris, a shorter hiking gaiter may be enough. They are different products, not interchangeable sizes.

Measure over the boots and pants you will actually wear. Check calf fit, under-boot strap placement and the exact model code before ordering. A waterproof gaiter does not make a non-waterproof boot waterproof.

Match The Gaiter To Conditions

  • Deep snow and wet brush: a full-height hunting gaiter; keep the top snug without restricting circulation.
  • Rock and crusted snow: inspect the under-boot strap and carry a spare if it is replaceable.
  • Dry trails and debris: the shorter KE-066 hiking gaiter offers less coverage and should not be confused with the KE-068 hunting gaiter.

Build The Whole Foot System

Start with boots that fit your hunt, add hunting socks, then size the gaiter over both boots and pants. Test everything on a training hike before leaving home.
