The big ones: guided gemsbok and oryx

Texas’ guided exotic packages draw the longest odds in the catalog. A handful of permits, thousands of applicants, a small application fee. It costs little to be in it.

Frequently asked questions

What Texas drawn hunts close Nov 1, 2026?

In TPWD's 2026-27 catalog, 18 categories with 52 hunt areas close Nov 1, 2026: spring turkey, feral hog, guided gemsbok and scimitar-horned oryx packages, youth exotic, and several E-Postcard and National Refuge categories.

How do I apply for a Texas drawn hunt?

Apply online in TPWD's Public Hunt Drawing System. You need a valid Texas hunting license to hunt; check the license rules for your category in the TPWD catalog before you submit.

How are the odds on this page figured?

Simple odds are last season's permits or groups drawn divided by last season's applicants, both from the TPWD catalog. Where last season's drawn count is blank we use this season's available count and label it est.

Do loyalty points help?

In special permit and National Refuge categories, yes: points accrue per category each season you apply and are cubed in the drawing. E-Postcard categories do not use points.
