What is new in the Alphaburly Aero
The LaCrosse Alphaburly Aero is LaCrosse’s new take on the Alphaburly, the rubber boot many whitetail hunters wear every season. The rubber-over-neoprene build is the same. What changed is underfoot. The new AeroForm ETPU midsole gives the boot more cushion on the walk to the stand, and the insulated 17-inch version pairs Solarcore Aerogel insulation with 800G.
- Hand-laid rubber over a 5 mm neoprene core. Waterproof, and the rubber does not hold scent.
- AeroForm ETPU midsole for cushioning and energy return, with a Burly Trak outsole for mud and wet ground.
- Solarcore insulation with Aerogel plus 800G on the insulated 17-inch model.
- Grid Fleece lining wicks sweat on the walk in.
- Active Fit adjustable neoprene gusset to snug the calf, and a kick-off heel plate so you can step out hands-free.
We compare it here with the two leather boots from our LOWA Renegade vs Kenetrek Elevated Extreme deep dive. These are three different kinds of boot, and the right one depends on the hunt.
Three-way verdict
- Pick the Alphaburly Aero for wet whitetail ground: creek crossings, flooded bottoms, mud and dew-soaked fields. Rubber leaves less scent on the trail to your stand, and the boot pulls on and kicks off in seconds. It is the right call for most stand and blind hunts east of the Rockies.
- Pick the LOWA Renegade GTX Mid when the hunt is miles: scouting, early archery, warm days and long hikes. It is by far the lightest of the three and has no insulation.
- Pick the Kenetrek Elevated Extreme for long sits in late-season cold, and for steep or rocky country where a 17-inch rubber boot would be sloppy. It has 1000 g Thinsulate, a stiff 7 mm nylon midsole and a 10-inch leather upper.

Q&A
Is the Alphaburly Aero warm enough for late-season sits?
The 800G model with Solarcore is built for cold. For hours on stand in single digits, the Kenetrek with 1000 g Thinsulate, plus good socks, is the safer pick.
Why rubber boots for whitetail?
Rubber leaves less scent on the trail than leather, and it handles mud, dew and water without soaking through. That is why so many whitetail hunters walk to the stand in rubber.
Can I hike in the Alphaburly Aero?
For short to moderate walks, yes. The AeroForm midsole adds cushion. For mountain miles, a laced boot like the LOWA fits the foot better and weighs far less.
Which is the most versatile of the three?
For eastern whitetail, the Alphaburly Aero. For mixed western hunts, the LOWA early and the Kenetrek late. See our LOWA vs Kenetrek comparison for that matchup.
