When results post

Results day is unknown for 2027. CPW posts results after the primary draw and charges your card on file when results post. We will not guess a date.

Where to check

Sign in at CPWshop.com. CPW sends results to the contact info in your profile. Watch your card for the license charge.

If you drew: plan it

  1. Claim or pay first. Keep the card on file valid. If it declines, pay by the deadline or the license is surrendered and points used are not restored. CPW also gives a short surrender period (date in your email) with a refund and points restored. Per CPW, drawing your first choice drops your preference points to zero.
  2. Read the hunt rules. Your unit or area regulations, legal weapon, dates and any mandatory check or report are on the CPW site and your license. Only CPW is official.
  3. Put the hunt on the calendar. Block the season dates, then work backward: scouting trips, travel, lodging and time off.
  4. Get the gear sorted. Start with the one piece below, then the full gear guides.

If you missed: bank points and catch the next window

  1. Check your points. Unsuccessful on your first choice earns one preference point for that species (if the application had no errors). Moose, bighorn sheep and goat points carry a $50 resident or $100 nonresident fee unless you opted out.
  2. Look for second chances. CPW runs a secondary draw for bear, deer, elk and pronghorn, then sells leftover limited licenses. Per CPW, points do not apply to or come from either.
  3. Line up next year. Colorado draw odds and odds by points. Full calendar: draw deadlines.

The four words on results day

Drawn (successful)
You won a tag or permit. Most agencies make you pay or claim it by a deadline, or you lose it.
Unsuccessful
You did not draw. In point states this usually earns you a point for next year. Your fee rules depend on the state.
Leftover
Tags nobody drew or claimed. States sell or redraw them later. Points usually do not apply to them.
Preference / bonus points
Credit for past tries. Preference points put you in line ahead of people with fewer. Bonus points add chances in a random draw. Drawing your first choice usually resets them.
