Texas Predator Hunt Pack List

Texas predator and furbearer hunting is built around night calling stands. Set up quiet in the dark, call, and watch for coyotes slipping in. Permit first. Then pack for this hunt.

Legal

Texas legal box. Predator and furbearer rules, including night hunting and lights, differ by property and by drawn hunt. Check current TPWD regulations and your hunt's rules before you go.

The pack, item by item

  1. 1. Headlamp (night)

You walk into stands in the dark, set up callers and sticks, and recover animals after dark. A hands-free light with red mode gets you set without lighting up the stand.

  2. 2. Binoculars (optional)

Scan edges and draws for an incoming coyote at first and last light.

  3. 3. Sunglasses (optional)

Daytime stands in open country, sun in your eyes.
