Texas Archery Deer Hunt Pack List

Texas archery season is quiet stands, close shots and a bow you trust. Our pick is the CenterPoint Sinister 430D with spare carbon bolts and a rope cocker, then OpticsPlanet glass, scent spray, Kings Camo layers and a Stanley for the long sit. We do not link premium crossbows or a 40–70 lb vertical compound yet. This is not the cold no-gun Texas deer pack. The weapon is in. Permit first. Then pack for this hunt.

Legal

Texas legal box. Archery and crossbow seasons, legal methods, antler restrictions and blaze orange rules vary by county and by drawn hunt. Check current TPWD regulations and your hunt's rules before you go. This pack is separate from the cold no-gun Texas deer pack list.

The pack, item by item

Camo and base layers link to Kings Camo. Vertical compound, release, broadheads, boots, rain shell, pack, calls and first aid have no link yet. We will add picks soon.

  1. 1. CenterPoint crossbow

Texas archery season needs a weapon you trust on quiet stands. Our pick is the CenterPoint Sinister 430D (integrated silent crank, scope, starter bolts). Premium options we don't link yet: Excalibur Genesis or Mission Sub-1 XR in brush, Barnett Ghost 410 mid, TenPoint Vapor RS470 on Panhandle open country. We don't link a vertical compound yet.

  2. 2. Vertical compound 40–70 lb (no link yet)

A 40–70 lb compound is the right window for most Texas deer. We don't link one yet (Sportsman's, Lancaster, or maker direct).

  3. 3. Release aid (no link yet)

Compound-only. Crossbows use a trigger covered by the Sinister package. We don't link a release yet.

  4. 4. Carbon arrows / bolts

Spare bolts beyond the kit arrows. CenterPoint 20-inch carbon arrows fit Sinister, Amped and Sniper.

  5. 5. Broadheads (no link yet)

Good options: Rage Hypodermic, NAP Killzone, Muzzy Trocar or G5 Montec. We don't link broadheads yet.

  6. 6. Crossbow rope cocker (must-add)

Carry a spare cocking aid even when the Sinister has an integrated crank. Rope cocker is our pick; Power Draw crank is the alt on CenterPoint.

  7. 7. Discharge / unload bag (no link yet)

Unload safely at the truck without a live bolt. Sportsman's or maker direct; we don't link this yet.

  8. 8. Laser rangefinder

Stand and saddle shots swing from brushy 20 yards to 50. Range landmarks when you sit.

  9. 9. 8x42 binoculars

Brush-country archery glass. 8x42 gathers last light in senderos and oak edges.

  10. 10. Brush camo system: pants, jacket, base and gloves

Quiet head-to-toe camo for close whitetail shots from brush stands. Layer a base under camo pants and a jacket for cold Texas sits, and wear gloves to hide moving hands at close range.

  11. 11. Quiet waterproof boots (no link yet)

Quiet soles for the walk to the stand. Sportsman's or Backcountry carry them.

  12. 12. Rain shell (no link yet)

Quiet shell for October fronts. Sitka or REI carry good ones.

  13. 13. Insulated layer

30s mornings on stand. Pick an insulated camo jacket if you will sit still.

  14. 14. Base + spare

Wicking bases plus a dry spare so you do not chill after the walk in.

  15. 15. 20–30L day pack (no link yet)

Bow-friendly day pack for layers, calls and water. Mystery Ranch or REI.

  16. 16. Grunt + rattles (no link yet)

Soft calls for cold-front rut sits. Primos makes good ones.

  17. 17. Scent control spray

Spray at the truck. Archery range is scent range.

  18. 18. First aid + tick (no link yet)

Tick and chigger country. AMK or Sawyer.

  19. 19. Thermos

Long sits need a hot drink so you stay.
