What it is

The Sitka Altitude Bootie is new for 2026. It is an insulated camp bootie, the thing you pull on when your hunting boots come off. Sitka describes it as "a warm, tough, lightweight bootie with a rubber sole for traction around camp." Sitka files it under Pursuit, Big Game and Late Season Rifle, so it is meant for wall tents, truck camps and cold hunting cabins, not a duck blind.

Most down booties are soft socks that soak through when you walk to the truck on frost. The Altitude adds a real rubber outsole and a rand, so you can walk around camp in it.

Short version

Bring it if you camp or stay at an unheated cabin during cold-weather hunts and want warm, dry feet when your boots are drying. Skip it if you sleep in a motel or travel ultralight on a long backpack hunt where every ounce counts.

When it makes the pack list

Makes the list: late-season rifle camp

Wall tents and truck camps in November and December. Boots come off wet, and you still need to walk to the fire, the cooler, or the outhouse.

Makes the list: drive-in elk or mule deer

Cold mornings at a trailhead camp. The bootie weighs little and packs flat in a duffel.

Makes the list: cold-cabin whitetail trips

Hunting cabins with bare plank floors. Synthetic fill copes with wet and mud on the porch better than down.

Skip it: motel or home hunts

If you go back to a heated room every night, camp shoes or slippers you already own work fine.

Skip it: ultralight backcountry

On a sheep or long backpack hunt, a pair of down socks weighs less. The rubber sole and rand add weight.

Skip it: early season

In September a pair of camp sandals is enough. 200g of insulation is a lot when it is 50°F out.

How it pairs with late-season Sitka

The bootie finishes off a late-season Sitka setup. When you get back to camp, switch out of your boots and wet layers into dry insulation from the top down. Then put the bootie on and set your boots by the stove.

Subalpine matches Sitka's western big-game gear. Metal Grey is the plain choice if you also wear it around the house.

Questions hunters ask

Can I hunt in the Altitude Bootie?

No. It is a camp bootie. The thin rubber sole gives traction on frost and wet planks, but it has no ankle support and is not meant for steep terrain.

Is it waterproof?

Sitka lists a DWR nylon upper and a rubber outsole and rand. That handles snow and wet ground for short walks. It is not a waterproof boot, so do not stand in water in it.

Synthetic or down for camp booties?

Synthetic. Camp booties get damp from sweat, snow, and boots drying nearby. PrimaLoft Gold stays warm when it is damp. Down booties pack smaller but go flat when they get wet.

Does it work in a sleeping bag?

It can. The cinch collar keeps the heat in, and the removable insole makes it less stiff. Many hunters wear camp booties in the bag on very cold nights.

Does KUIU make something similar?

KUIU makes its own insulated camp gear. Our KUIU camo patterns guide (including Verde and Veros) is coming soon. This page covers only the Sitka bootie.

Why is there no price or buy button?

We show prices only next to Amazon affiliate links we have verified. The Altitude Bootie has no clean Amazon listing yet, so this page is specs only, with no buy link, until we have one.
